Concert on 1st April 2006

Click for full-size image Hilary Brooks conducted her last concert as Musical Director of the orchestra on 1st April this year, having selected one of the most challenging works the orchestra has ever undertaken - Britten's Four Sea Interludes. This proved to be a wonderful, if rather nerve-racking finale to her time with the orchestra.

When Hilary started conducting the Winchester Amateur Orchestra fifteen years ago the orchestra gave one concert a year and held an occasional repertoire evening. Over the years we have gradually added more variety and more concerts. Hilary's guidance has been instrumental in the development of the orchestra, and we are immensely grateful to her.

We were also pleased that Roger Owens was able to return as the soloist in Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto no. 2.
